about

When my son was four he told me that some birds in a tree were 'his birds'. My heart did a a lurch, thinking about my children and when in the future they would also 'fly away' and a reminder to myself to make the most of while they were around.

lyrics

My birds have all flown away
And left me without their singing
And although it was just yesterday
It feels like a lifetime.

I walked with you under the trees
Black branches still cling to their nests
Those are my birds that fly on the breeze
Can you hear their music?

Birds fly
Children grow
Leaves fall
Then you'll know.....

When you are a man you will know
That you cannot possess them
Like leaves from the trees they will blow
Enjoy them while you may.....
